I do not treat, I do not diagnose and I do not prescribe. The lessons are about learning: you find out how you move and what other possibilities you have.

Is Feldenkrais a therapy?

No. The Feldenkrais Method is a way of learning. It does not replace medical examination, diagnosis or therapy. If you have complaints, please have them examined by a doctor – Feldenkrais can stand alongside that well, not in its place.

What does a lesson cost?

A group lesson (Awareness Through Movement) costs 15 euros per person. Within the running course, 8 lessons cost 80 euros.
An individual lesson (Functional Integration) costs 80 euros and lasts around 60 minutes.

Does health insurance pay for it?

In Austria the Feldenkrais Method is not covered by the statutory health insurance. Some private supplementary insurers do contribute to such offers – it is best to ask them directly.

Do I have to be flexible or athletic?

No, quite the opposite. The movements are small, slow and require little effort. You only do what comes without strain. People with little movement experience often have an advantage here, because there is nothing you have to be able to do.

Does it hurt?

No. Anything that hurts does not belong in a Feldenkrais lesson. One principle of the method is to stay within the pleasant range – learning happens through fine differences, not through stretching to the limit of pain.

What should I wear and bring?

Comfortable clothes you can move in easily, and warm socks. Mats and blankets are here. In an individual lesson you stay fully dressed.

Individual lesson or group lesson – what suits me?

In a group lesson I guide the movements with my voice; that is a good and affordable way to start. An individual lesson makes sense when there is a specific theme, when following along in a group is difficult for you, or when you would like to move forward more quickly. Many people combine both.

How many lessons do I need?

There is no general answer. Most people notice something after the very first lesson. For a habit to change, repetition is needed – which is why the weekly course is set up so that you can stay with it over several weeks.

Can I join in the middle of a course?

Yes. Each lesson is complete in itself, so you can join at any time. You will find the current dates under dates.

Is Feldenkrais the same as yoga or Pilates?

No. Yoga and Pilates work with postures and exercises that are meant to be performed as well as possible. In Feldenkrais there is no model and no correct execution – it is about noticing differences in what you yourself are doing. The lessons take place within the rooms of Matsya Yoga, but they are an independent offer.

I have back pain. Is this something for me?

Many people come with tension in the back, shoulders or neck. In a lesson we do not work on the pain itself, but on the movement habit around it. Please have persistent or severe pain examined by a doctor beforehand.

Can I take part during pregnancy?

In principle yes, the movements are gentle. Please speak briefly with your doctor or midwife beforehand and let me know when you register, then I will adapt the lesson.

From what age is Child’Space possible?

From the first weeks of life until a child walks freely. The child comes to the lesson together with a care giver. You can read more on the Child’Space page.

In which language are the lessons held?

In English and in German. I come from the USA, so English lessons are no problem at any time – just let me know when you get in touch.

Where do the lessons take place?

At Rossatz 12, 3602 Rossatz, in the rooms of Matsya Yoga in the old kindergarten next to the church. From Krems it is about 15 minutes.
