The Method

The image that each individual carries of themselves influences their own way of moving. Conversely, we can also shape our self-image through awareness of our movements. This influences our own perception of ourselves. and therefore we can achieve not only more lightness for our movements, but for our entire self.

Moshe Feldenkrais developed a gentle and very effective method that works with natural intelligence.

Based on the laws of physics and functional, evolutionary movement sequences, a method was created that makes movement – not just in the physical sense – possible for all people.

The Man

Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais’ life journey profoundly shaped the method. Born in Ukraine and later migrating to Israel, Feldenkrais was a polymath, with a background in physics, engineering, and judo. His method was born out of personal necessity; a knee injury led him to a deep exploration of human movement and neuroplasticity. This exploration, combined with his scientific acumen and martial arts expertise, resulted in a revolutionary approach to physical and mental health. Feldenkrais’ legacy is not just a method for physical improvement, but a testament to the resilience and adaptability of the human spirit

“The truly important learning is to be able to do the thing you already know in another way. The more ways you have to do the things you know, the freer is your choice. And the freer your choice, the more you’re a human being.”

Moshe Feldenkrais

“In order to change our mode of action, we must change the image of ourselves that we carry within us.”

Moshe Feldenkrais

“Nothing is permanent about our behavior patterns except our belief that they are so.”
